HEE is seeking a provider to deliver training for staff to better support people living with Avoidant estrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

If SLAM is unable to provide dedicated services, there will be a detrimental impact on HEE service delivery for several reasons:
• Due to COVID-19,there has been a significant increase in cases and referrals of those presenting with symptoms of eating disorders. In addition, those with ARFID is more prevalent, however there is not the required understanding within services to highlight potential ARFID cases.
• As a result, it is imperative that the ARFID training is delivered to upskill our services. Significant delay in doing so will impact services through non diagnosis of patients with ARFID due to lack of expertise.
• Healthcare professionals within services not being trained to deal with ARFID cases and early intervention may result in the severity of the ARFID cases worsening and service users not receiving the support they need.
• NHS organisations and service providers will be met by increased pressure to expand services and will need expert support to be able to increase recruitment and retain existing staff. SLAM has the expertise to deliver training that will support capability development within the workforce and support recruitment and retention initiatives.
• Stakeholder engagement will be adversely impacted if HEE is unable to utilise the contacts and networks of SLAM have access to.
