The Council has been delivering cycle training to adults and school children continuously since 2006.
The contract will be focused on delivering cycle training in line with the government’s national cycle training programme, Bikeability. The Bikeability Trust manages course content, training standards, the education of trainers and the ongoing assessment of training providers.

The Council has provided national standard accredited cycle training (Bikeability) to schools and to those who live, work or study in the borough continuously since 2006. The service has always been delivered by contractors as delivery by an in-house team would require significantly more management resources.
The appointed Cycle Training provider is expected to handle bookings with schools and individuals, employment of staff, allocation of staff to bookings, quality control of delivery and staff accreditation within the Bikeability scheme structure.

The The LBWF Cycle Training and Associated Active Travel Services Framework follows the Council's procurement approach hierarchy, namely that frameworks meeting the Council’s needs should be evaluated first and selected when feasible. The new contract would introduce advanced equipment, enhancing the Borough's ability to manage MTCs efficiently and effectively.
