Devon County Council have a requirement for the delivery of archaeological field work, subsequent reporting and provision of public information in order to discharge conditions associated with the planning permission for the A382 Phase 2 works.
The field work consists of 16 trenches in various locations along the length of the A382 and the methodologies are as detailed in the approved Written Scheme of Investigation. The trenching and subsequent reporting work is to also be supplemented by a series of interpretation boards.

Devon County Council (DCC) has planning consent (DCC/3851/2016) to increase the capacity of the A382 road and accommodate the growth in traffic expected due to planned urban growth in the wider Newton Abbot area, as allocated in the Teignbridge Local Plan (adopted 2014). The Plan details the infrastructure required to accommodate the growth within the Plan period, including the need to improve the A382.
