two.2.4) Description of the procurement
Northern Powergrid intends to purchase the provision of a wood pole support system. The requirement is to supply up to 10,000 wood pole supports for Northern Powergrid’s high voltage and low voltage network based on a known supply chain capability.
Osmose Utilities Services Inc. (“Osmose”) is the only known manufacturer of a wood pole support system that meets the requirement and is available in the United Kingdom. The system has been specifically designed and tested for this application and is compatible with the various sizes of wood pole used on the distribution network. The system is required to restore the strength in the ground line section of a wood pole.
The contract will include the following requirements, all to be delivered via Osmose’s sole UK agent:
1) Supply of Osmose steel trusses, compression banding and associated materials.
2) Pre-installation survey and consent with landowner.
3) Installation of the Osmose steel trusses via dedicated trained teams and equipment in line with the manufacturer’s approved installation method.
Northern Powergrid is not aware of any other suppliers in the marketplace that can offer a wood pole support system within the required timescale.
