Bridgend County Borough Council wishes to commission a Minor Adaptations Service that will provide and install a range of equipment and small adaptations in the homes of people in Bridgend County Borough.
Bridgend County Borough Council are committed to securing quality provision and wishes to appoint one provider that has the facilities and proven ability and experience of delivering a high quality Minor Adaptations Service which will provide a responsive service to individuals with a range of needs.
Following receipt of a referral from the Community Occupational Therapy Team, the Minor Adaptations Service will assess individuals for appropriate equipment and adaptations, arrange to supply and install a range of equipment and small adaptations so people may better mobilise and remain safer in their home. Minor adaptations are crucial in enabling timely discharge from hospital, supporting post-discharge recovery, preventing falls, preventing admissions to care homes and hospitals and maintaining independence.
The successful organisation will have staff that include certified Trusted Assessors. The Trusted Assessor role is vital to the success of the Minor Adaptations Service in the provision of assessing people appropriately for equipment and adaptations.
The successful provider will also have adequately demonstrated they have the skills, experience and understanding of undertaking this work in a social care environment, and in particular to people with a range of needs, who may be also be regarded as vulnerable, including older people and people with complex needs.
The Council is committed to supporting people to continue to live independently in their own homes for longer and this Service will support and facilitate this work and preventative approach to supporting individuals within Bridgend.
The Agreement will be for a period of 2 years from the Commencement Date, with an option to extend up to a further 24 months should the Council wish to exercise this option.

It is a requirement of this contract that the provider is able to evidence their knowledge and experience of assessing, supplying and installing equipment and adaptations in people’s homes, by ensuring that the provider’s staff are fully trained as Trusted Assessors to a minimum of Trusted Assessor Level 3: Assessing, provision and fitting of equipment and minor adaptations. The training and certification of such Staff must be undertaken by a recognised Trusted Assessor training organisation.
