Description of Services: The contract is for the provision of Biochemistry referral tests.

Contract Award Statement: The intention is to award the contract to Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust following the direct award process C under the Provider Selection Regime.

Contract Value: The approximate lifetime value of the contract is £45,000.

Contract Period: The services are intended to be provided from 2025 to 2028.

This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) intention to award notice. The awarding of this contract is subject to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.

The standstill period begins on the day after the publication of this notice. Representations by providers must be made to the relevant authority by 3rd June 2025.

Rationale: The Authority intends to directly award a contract to Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust under the Direct Award Process C.

Clinical criteria: Suitable / compatible analytical methodology, appropriate reference ranges and clinical comments, availability of useful clinical advice (based on national reputation,

and/or experience and/or user feedback)

This decision to proceed with Direct Award C is based on the following criteria:

• The authority is not required to follow Direct Award A or B.

• The new contract will replace the existing contract upon its expiration.

• The considerable change threshold is not met.

• The existing provider is performing satisfactorily and is expected to continue to do so.

• The provider meets the basic selection criteria.

The new contract will cover a Biochemistry laboratory testing service, for a duration of 36 months and is valued at £45,000.
