Magnox currently have three temporary structures in place to facilitate the storage of waste located at the Harwell site.
Due to unforeseen delays in managing the disposal of the waste, the structures are required for the following durations:
Hanger 10 Tent: 36 months
B525 Tent: 24 months
B351 Tent: 12 months
Magnox has analysed the risks associated with the removal of contaminated waste from one tent to another. This exposes Magnox not only financially, but also from a health and safety perspective.

The procurement was placed in accordance with Magnox Ltd Conditions of Contract for Plant Hire (M/PH/2013). Magnox may extend the hire period for any of the plant on the site, with the agreement of the owner.

Explanation:
Magnox Limited is intending to modify the current contract with Spaciotempo UK pursuant to Regulation 72(1)(b) of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. Magnox considers that the modification to the current contract is necessary.
Firstly, a change of contractor cannot be made for interchangeability and interoperability reasons. There would be significant health and safety implications resulting from a change of contractor, including but not limited to from a licence condition perspective in respect of LC34 (Leakage and Escape of Radioactive Material and Radioactive Waste) and LC32 (Accumulation of Radioactive Waste).
Secondly, a change of contractor would cause significant inconvenience and an increase in cost, with a significant consequential cost of moving waste from H10, B351 and B525.
Finally, the increase in price does not exceed 50% of the value of the original contract with Spaciotempo UK.
