UKAEA wishes to engage with potential prime contractors, SME’s, fume cupboards manufacturers

for the development and supply of 6 fume cupboards for use in a new building onsite at the Culham

Centre for Fusion Energy which is currently under construction, called the National Fusion

Technology Platform. This building will house the Tritium Advanced Technology (H3AT) laboratories

for Health Physics, Wet Chemistry and Materials Detritiation.

A need for a number of fume cupboards and extraction units has been identified, as follows.

A. 1 off bespoke fume cabinet 1 (detailed below)

B. 1 off bespoke fume cabinet 2 (detailed below)

C. 4 off sash fume cupboards with a working area of approximately W 1.00 x D 0.63 x H 1.17 m

D. 3 off elephant trunk fume hoods (1 for each laboratory)

Through this process we are looking to open up engagement with suppliers to ensure there

is sufficient production capability and capacity to meet project timelines and design

requirements.

After the engagement exercise, UKAEA intend to issue an Invitation to Tender through the

EU Supply and Find a Tender portal to procure services for design, provision of equipment

and installation work through competitively tendered contracts.
