THIS IS NOT A CALL FOR COMPETITION

Staffordshire County Council (SCC) are publishing this Prior Information Notice to inform suitably experienced Nursing care providers of a possible future contract opportunity for delivering nursing care services. This is not a call for competition.

SCC has identified a need for two 80 bed high quality Nursing care homes in the districts of Lichfield and Tamworth and is considering the feasibility of building two new homes and commissioning an experienced Care Home Provider (with nursing) to manage, run and staff the two SCC owned care homes.

SCC have identified sites in Lichfield and Tamworth which could be used for Care Homes with Nursing. SCC would like to gauge market interest in delivering the care with nursing provision, for one or both of the Council owned care homes to provide both management and staff to deliver good quality nursing care on behalf of SCC, in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements. Providers must be able to provide quality care and support in a safe, well managed, comfortable and stimulating environment.

It is intended that these services will allow SCC to achieve cost effective placements for individuals with nursing needs and also improve SCCs ability to place efficiently.

It is currently anticipated that all of the nursing beds will be for the sole use of the Council, for individuals for whom the Council is responsible for meeting their care and support needs and who have been assessed as requiring accommodation in a Nursing Care Home setting in order to ensure their needs are met. The nursing care would be funded through FNC by the NHS, and the social care and other related running costs for the home would be funded by SCC.

The council is looking to commission nursing care services that will focus on the outcomes that residents want and value for money and work with a provider able to meet the increasing complexity of need as well as collaborate with both social care and health professionals.
