University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB), which manages and operates Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic, is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, serving a regional, national and international population. The Trust is a regional centre for cancer, trauma, renal dialysis, burns and plastics, HIV and AIDS, as well as respiratory conditions like cystic fibrosis. It has expertise in premature baby care, bone marrow transplants and thoracic surgery and provides the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe. It provides a series of highly specialist cardiac, liver and neurosurgery services to patients from across the UK.
It has more than 700 IT systems, ranging from bespoke data capture applications used by individuals to medical device integrations and enterprise-wide resource planning solutions.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

UHB is seeking to engage with suppliers interested in its requirement for an Equipment Management Solution to support the WHEELS equipment service at QEHB.
The WHEELS service at QEHB has a main function of the short-term provision of wheelchairs for patients being discharged from QEHB. The main function of the WHEELS application is a referral management software and prescription of a wheelchair with managing stock levels.
The trust has existing access to a bespoke software, which has been used by QE for more than 10 years, thus an upgrade to a new system is required however interested suppliers should note that we do not require an off-the shelf product and only require a solution that is bespoke for what we intend to use it for.
