two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The Extra Care scheme is a housing provision designed to offer a safe, private and secure environment with an on-site domiciliary care provision (the Service). Residents live in self-contained apartments with access to communal facilities, for example, a lounge, hairdressers, laundry, hobby room and library.

The Extra Care Facility in the Vale of Glamorgan is a 42-unit building. There are 25 two beds and 17 one bed units with a potential full occupancy of 67 people.

The majority of Residents will be 50 years of age and over and have varying care and support needs. The Services will be provided to Residents assessed as eligible for Care and Support at home by the Council’s Adult Social Services.

Any future agreement will be in the form of a Contract and will operate for a period of five (5) years, with the option to extend for up to an additional two (2) years
