This statement is an intention to award the contract for an existing service to an existing provider following PSR Direct Award route C.

Standstill period of 8 working days will be observed following the publication of the contract award notice. The standstill period is set to end on Friday 16th August 2024.

The Stop Smoking+ service is a lifestyle non-clinical service providing behavioural advice and ongoing support to help people quit smoking. Alongside the provision of advice and support, a local voucher scheme for Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and other pharmacotherapy products is also currently available in several Newcastle pharmacies via PGD (Patient Group Directive) arrangements along with other approved products/quit aids.

The relevant authority has assessed that the existing provider is satisfying the existing contract to a sufficient standard. This has been done by assessing the performance of the provider against any key performance indicators and by taking into account the key criteria and applying the basic selection criteria.

The provider was assessed upon the following five key criteria including: Quality and innovation, Value, Integration, collaboration and service sustainability, Improving access, reducing health inequalities and facilitating choice, Social value.

The relevant authority is of the view that the existing provider will likely satisfy the proposed contract to a sufficient standard taking into account the key criteria and applying the basic selection criteria.
