Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary (HIOWC) is committed to supporting the wellbeing of Police Officers and Police Staff. In some areas of policing there is a higher level of exposure to psychological hazards known to be associated with an increased risk of anxiety, depression, primary and secondary trauma. The Constabulary recognises therefore that some roles may affect and impact on an individual's emotional and mental wellbeing due to the nature of the content faced as part of that person's day-to-day work activities.
Psychological screening services support HIOWC with their duty of care. It enables Occupational Health (OH) to provide advice and support for those individuals who are experiencing work related problems or work that is affecting mental health / trauma related issues; the aim is to facilitate recovery and enable individuals to return to or remain in their role, by giving access to clinical psychological services, assessments, and therapies where appropriate.
