The University of Huddersfield intends to appoint a supplier to provide metasurfaces for an extended period of time.
These metasurfaces will be designed to act as optical components in a variety of optical metrology instruments that are currently under development. The different nanostructures to be formed on the surface allow the phase delay light experiences to be varied, allowing a flat optic with a thickness of the order of the wavelength of light to be created. These elements are designed to function using optical wavelengths of light, somewhere in the region of 660 nm.
