seven.2) Information about modifications
seven.2.1) Description of the modifications
Nature and extent of the modifications (with indication of possible earlier changes to the contract):
To allow sufficient time to retender the contract via competitive dialogue and allow a sufficient implementation period, the contract has been modified for a further period of 2 years with the option to extend for a further period of up to 12 months.
The additional time added to the contract will increase the contract value from £80,000,000 to £110,000,000.
The terms of the original contract will remain unchanged.

Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee.
Description of the circumstances which rendered the modification necessary and explanation of the unforeseen nature of these circumstances:
The Authority were unable to commence a new procurement until the local councils had decided if they were to remain part of the contract or proceed with their own contracts. The Councils have now made their decision and the Authority can now proceed with the procurement. However to allow time to carry out the procurement via competitive dialogue, the Authority requires the contract to be modified by 2 years with the option to extend for a further period of up to 12 months.
