two.1.4) Short description

The NCL ICB is undertaking an Urgent Care Review with the aim of determining what our long-term requirements from Primary Care will be in terms of Extended Access support.

To allow time for this review to conclude we are seeking to extend the existing hubs to allow time for the review to conclude and a new solution to be procured.

The urgent care review aligns to the national priority for seven-day services from 8am-8pm.

The GP Forward View sets out a vision for primary care that supports greater access.

The NCL ICB has signed up to this commitment including:

• Providing a choice of access and consultation options; such as prioritising continuity of care over rapid access, or wanting to book several weeks in advance

• Only needing to make one call, click or contact to book an appointment, including better use of technology

• The ability to access pre bookable routine and same day appointments with a GP or appropriately skilled nurse between 8am-6.30pm

• The ability to be registered with a named GP

• Rapid assessment in the case or urgent or emergency needs

• The ability to have a pre bookable or same day appointment 8am-8pm, 7 days a week through the use of "hubs"

The extension of these contracts will allow the services to align with the urgent care review to conclude and the new solution meeting these principles, with any amendments brought about by the review, to be procured.

The contracts will be extended for 1 year with the option for a further year's extension should the review be delayed for any reason.
