two.2.4) Description of the procurement

As part of its economic growth and digital innovation agenda, Angus Council is looking to work with the private sector on the design and build of a 5G network in Montrose.

The solution must include the following

Network must include the capability for Public and Private 5G Connectivity

Incorporate the 700MHZ and 3.6GHz spectrum

Incorporate a Data Exchange

Incorporate a Digital Twin / Visualisation element

Minimum of six use cases to be deployed using the infrastructure

Vendor agnostic

Embedded cyber security

Initially the focus is on the Port of Montrose (South end of Montrose) but the solution should also include the proposed Zero4 business park (North end of Montrose).

It is expected that most of the residents & businesses of Montrose will benefit from the provision of 5G telephony as part of this project.

Following the design and build phase of the 5G network, ownership and on-going maintenance and upgrades of the network will remain with the industry partners.

As part of the Department of Culture, Media & Sport LFFN programme several Council buildings in Montrose have been upgraded to have a fibre connection and as part of this project Openreach have installed their “FFIB - Full Fibre Infrastructure Build” in the area extending the reach of fibre to the majority of Montrose.
