two.2.4) Description of the procurement

- The contract is for the manufacture and installation of bus shelters and also for the maintenance of 274 non advertising shelters throughout East Ayrshire.

- These bus shelters are located throughout East Ayrshire which covers a geographical area from Lugton in the north to Dalmellington in the south.

- In a typical financial year there shall be orders placed for the installation of new non advertising shelters amounting to between 1 and 5 shelters. Maintenance orders for the repair of shelter panels shall be placed on a monthly basis and may amount to approximately 6 replacement panels per call.

- There are also proposals within the first year of the contract to complete a replacement programme for 13 advertising bus shelters located within the town of Kilmarnock.

- Other maintenance orders which may be placed from time to time may consist of repairs to bench seating or any other structural parts or conversion of existing shelters. Appropriate costings will be sought in advance of any such orders.

- To ensure consistency of style and standard, the design and quality of the shelters to be provided and the materials used must be similar to the Council’s existing shelter stock. Appropriate details along with photographs of existing shelters, are given in the Specification.
