two.1.4) Short description

The objective of the wider project is to develop a requirements set and associated pre-conceptual design, for a microwave test facility.

This test facility may include the ability to test any of the following:

-Component level testing e.g. gyrotron cavity

-High-powered gyrotrons

-Novel source testing

-Waveguide testing

-Low power microwave testing

-Launcher mechanical testing

-Quasi-optical propagation testing

The areas of primary interest for this opportunity are:

-Microwave source testing

-High-powered microwave component testing

-Gyrotron cavity thermal test rig

It is anticipated, subject to market engagement, that a maximum of 5 contracts will be awarded to parties with an interest in future use of such a facility.

The estimated budget for each contract is between £10,000 and £20,000.

This piece of work is required to be completed by the end of February 2025.

-Definition of scope for an overall test facility

-Definition of technical requirements for an overall test facility

-Report of anticipated use of test facility

-Definition of technical requirements for a gyrotron cavity test rig (additional scope)
