two.2.4) Description of the procurement

A consortium of NHS Trusts (University Hospitals Birmingham and Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital) requires a solution for archiving data from several end-of-life Pathology Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), based upon a FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) repository.
Source data will include both reportable results type data and non-reportable data. Data must be retained for at least thirty years and remain accessible for continued daily interrogation.
The consortium anticipates that source data extracted from the legacy LIMS will be transformed to FHIR format and this is expected to be bulk loaded to initialise the repository.
The solution is also expected to be populated with ongoing data from the new LIMS to eliminate the possibility of vendor lock-in and facilitate any future exit strategy from the replacement LIMS.
The solution is expected to become a strategic building block that can scale to accommodate data from other systems and clinical disciplines as these reach their end-of-life.

The consortium is seeking to engage with suppliers interested in its requirement for a Strategic Archiving Solution based upon a FHIR repository.

The potential term the Authority seeks is for an initial term of 5 years and the option to extend for up to 10 years. For the purpose of the pre-market engagement, please provide costings for the initial contract term.
