Section four. Procedure
four.1) Description
four.1.1) Type of procedure
Award of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition in the cases listed below
- The services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
Explanation:
UK AEA requires this manipulator and controller to have a robotic control system which would allow a user-defined servo control, in which current demands to the motor drivers of the robot are calculated by bespoke control algorithms. In this way any proprietary control law implemented by the manufacturer should be overridable by the user-defined one. The controller should also implement a ROS 2 interface to allow real-time exchange of data with third party devices/software through the Data Distribution Service (DDS) protocol.”
UK AEA has identified the Comau G5G controller as the only “open” controller on the market in the sense described above. Furthermore, the C5G controller is now ROS-2 compatible, which makes it the best system architecture for DEMO RMTF in the current landscape of industrial controller technology..
