Our catering services meet the needs of a working House of Parliament and are used by a wide number of people, such as visitors, staff, journalists and police officers and not just members. This tender was sent to establish a framework agreement with 3 to 4 suppliers to provide daily deliveries of fresh and prepared fruits and vegetables for use in the catering and restaurant facilities across both Houses and will enable SME suppliers to compete for tenders. The nature of a framework agreement means that the estimated cost (in this case £2.5M) is usually higher because that amount could potentially be split between multiple suppliers. However any supplier successfully appointed to the framework will be subject to monthly quotations to ensure any orders are given to the lowest priced supplier. Both the House of Lords and House of Commons routinely review their prices, adjusting when necessary, to ensure value for money to the taxpayer.
