This is a Prior Information Notice (PIN) for a Market Engagement Day for the Adult Social Care Workforce Employee Survey.
With over 1.67 million jobs, the adult social care workforce is larger than the NHS, construction, transport, or food and drink service industries.
There are at present recruitment and retention challenges and barriers, which are likely to become more pressing as the population requiring care grows and the way care is delivered evolves and diversifies. To meet these challenges, as set out in “People at the Heart of Care: adult social care reform white paper”, the UK Government committed to invest at least £500m over 3 years to support the adult social care workforce.
It is key for the Government to be able to understand the impact the programme as a whole and the individual policies are having on the outcomes of interest, through robust evaluation. The Government has also made a public commitment to design robust monitoring and evaluation of the adult social care reform, as well its individual elements. This includes the £500m in workforce package.
DHSC seeks to commission the design, set-up, and implementation of an adult social care workforce survey. This project is crucial to enable the collection of baseline and follow-up data that would inform the evaluation of the £500m that the UK government committed to invest over three years to support the adult social care workforce, as set out in “People at the Heart of Care: adult social care reform white paper”.
