two.2.4) Description of the procurement
The Community Denosumab Service is a GP led service covering the population and geography of Bromley borough. The service will operate a weekly clinic administering denosumab to patients who are referred via secondary care. The clinic is operated by a nurse / pharmacist with oversight by a GP. The service receives referrals from secondary care on a shared care basis and is required to be part of a shared care arrangement. The service includes both ambulatory and domiciliary patients.
The service aims to provide:
• Blood test appointments in a timely manner prior to injection
• Prescribing and administration of denosumab injection under a patient group direction (PGD)
• Follow up blood test, if necessary
The Service aims to achieve the following outcomes:
• Reduce pressure on secondary care and improve patient access to clinical services in the community
• Administer denosumab for the prevention of osteoporotic fractures
