Section six. Complementary information
six.3) Additional information
Sellafield Ltd competed the Control Systems contract opportunity in 2018 pursuant to OJ 2018/S 025-052793. The contract value noted in the Contract Award Notice (reference 2019/S 030-066840) indicated a contract value of £49.5m ex VAT.
The original contract notice anticipated a contract spend of between £49.5m and £51.69m but specifically noted that this was an estimate only for the identified Control System packages. Sellafield Ltd has identified that the contract spend is likely to be greater than the value anticipated at contract award and has therefore obtained approval of additional sanction for the contract which is anticipated to result in a final contract value of £77,500,000. The contract remains in flight, with the uplifted sanction to be utilised across contract years 5 to 10.
The sanction uplift reflects variability in demand for Control Systems, the need for interoperability of the control systems, the long-term strategic nature of the arrangement and in-flight projects as well as the significant impacts of hyper-inflation. Consequently, the approved uplift in sanction for the contract value is considered to align with the provisions of Regulation 72 of the Public Contract Regulations 2015.
Additionally, Sellafield Ltd has identified Control System work packages which can be delivered on a standalone basis and anticipates publishing details of further contract opportunities and the associated competitions during Q4/2024.
