This work is being undertaken by the Environment Agency to undertake sampling and analysis services for the project Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Construction and Demolition waste. POPs are dangerous chemicals that present long term risks to human health and the environment due to their persistence in the environment, potential to transport over great distances, and accumulation in fatty tissues of people and animals. This sampling and analysis will help the Environment Agency understand the presence of these pollutants in construction waste and inform subsequent regulatory decisions.
