Wakefield Council is looking to appoint an experienced and qualified resource to be the Supervisor (as per NEC4) with substantial delegated powers from the Project Manager to manage the on-site construction works for the above schemes through to final account stage.

The proposed Newton Bar Roundabout Improvement scheme comprises a major junction improvement of an existing roundabout and approach roads.

It involves the construction of a new signalised roundabout with through-lanes, additional approach traffic lanes, upgrade of the adjacent signal controlled junction, and the provision of shared cycle/pedestrian footways, signalised pedestrian/cycle crossings, improved drainage provision, and the extension of an existing bus lane along the corridor.

The Castleford Growth Corridor is part of the objective to improve the urban environment by enhancing the public realm in Castleford centre around the Lock Lane Gateway along with substantial highway improvements including carriageway widening, signal controlled junctions and improved crossing facilities for pedestrians as part of the area regeneration being undertaken by the authority in Castleford, along Wheldon Road, Wheldale, Ferry Fryston and Ferry Fryston.

This function is planned to last for the 3 years of the construction work, but will be terminated on completion of the Newton Bar scheme if the Castleford Growth Corridor Project does not proceed.
