two.1.4) Short description

Swindon Borough Council invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced service providers for the provision of services to haul, treat and dispose of local authority collected residual waste.

Swindon Borough Council is required to treat and dispose of around 55,000 tonnes of its own non-recyclable residual waste collected from the kerbside, and from its single household waste recycling centre.

Suppliers are invited to submit tenders for 10,000 tonne per annum lots, between 10,000 and the full 60,000 tonnes. The volume of the contracted waste will be variable over the term of the contract, with a guarantee of 70% of the full tonnage tendered for being given. The contract term will be for 8 years with no breaks or extensions being included.

The Council will provide and operate a Transfer Station facility within Swindon for the duration of the contract and load the waste onto the suppliers’ trailers.

The annual value of the contract is expected to be in the region of £6-7.5m.

To participate, Suppliers will need to Register as a Supplier with ProContract, www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk, then Register an Interest in relation to project reference DN559593, before obtaining access to the tender documents. The contract period will be 96 months, expected to commence 4th April 2022.
