Bath and North East Council (B&NES) is required under its commercial Water Supply Agreement with YTL to supply untreated hot mineral water of a prescribed quality and quantity for use in the Thermae Bath Spa facility. In order to maintain and verify the quality of supply weekly cleaning in place (CIP)operations and water analysis is required.

The Council wishes to establish a single provider for the provision of CIP and water sample collection operations.

In order to achieve this objective the three boreholes that can supply water are linked via a twin pipe piped system to a central supply hub located in the Spa basement plantroom. The central hub comprises a computerised control panel which runs a bespoke CIP program and a distribution/dosing unit. On a Thursday morning ~ 09:00am YTL operatives suspend supply to their pool pre-treatment systems in order to undertake their operator CIP procedures simultaneous with this the Council (or its contractors) are able to undertake CIP of each of the supply systems. There can be up to three supply sources each requiring its own CIP operation however since the Spa opened in 2006 only two systems have been used at any one time. Thursday PM other associated works and sampling.
