four.1) Description

four.1.1) Type of procedure

Explanation:

The Apheresis service at Royal Marsden Hospital provides both collection and therapeutic interventions for the adult and paediatric haematology and transplant programme at the Royal Marsden. We perform peripheral blood stem cell collections for both autologous and allogeneic transplant, cellular therapy collections both therapeutics and diagnostics and also emergency procedures such as plasma exchanges and white blood cell depletions.

To meet these service needs, the Trust requires a machines that can deliver all the following functions:

• Therapeutic Plasma Exchange

• Continuous Mononuclear Cell Collection

• Bone Marrow Processing

The bone marrow is cycled through a sterile harness and spun to separate out different cell types.

The equipment require to calculates the number of processing cycles required based on information put into the machine by the user.

The machines requires to use interface monitoring system which allows to know which layer of cells need to be collected.
