Scope
Description
Direct award of a contract for the provision of technical support and spares supply (TSSSA) services that will be provided in the course of the contracting authority's maintenance of the fleet of Class 331 rolling stock Units. The service provider will be the supplier of all spares and consumables required for the maintenance and overhaul of the fleet. The services will continue for a period of 10 years.

Single supplier - technical reasons
CAF are the original equipment manufacturer for this type of fleet. CAF therefore have all the technical knowledge around how this train was designed and manufactured. They have the supply chain in place that covers spares and overhauls and own certain IPR and have certain know-how. As part of the supply of technical services CAF are providing support for our on-board systems including software updates and integration with the TCMS (Train Control Management System).
