This tender document is for the procurement of new X-ray cabinet irradiation equipment for the irradiation of cells and animals housed within the Institute's core radiation facility.

The new equipment will need to meet existing requirements, i.e. capable of delivering robust, reproducible and comparable irradiation for sublethal and lethal ablation of the haematopoietic compartment of whole animals enabling the study of their immune and haematopoietic cell reconstitution, while also enabling irradiation of cells in culture.

The Institute will only consider a package from the same manufacturer comprising both a benchtop cell irradiator and a separate floor-standing cell and animal irradiator; thus streamlining ability to perform cell irradiation experiments interchangeably and reproducibly and to expand capability to meet existing and identified needs.

This equipment is core to the pioneering work at the Institute in understanding healthy ageing and improve wellbeing which underpins the Institute Strategic Programmes in signalling, immunology and epigenetics.
