Urgent Access Hub Reading Prior Information Notice
NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICB is looking to commission a Same Day Urgent Access Hub in Reading.
The aim of the service is to improve same day access in Berkshire West through the provision of a primary care-led service located at Royal Berkshire Hospital. The service will provide a seamless transition between in and out of hours services and treat patients directed to the service from multiple sources including NHS 111 services, referral from primary care, self-presenters and from the Emergency Department at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The level of clinical service provided will be comparable to the service received by patients attending general practice primary care settings. Details regarding the expected service arrangements are set out in the service specification.
This is a market engagement exercise. The ICB is seeking the views of healthcare providers for this service using a market engagement questionnaire. A Draft Specification is available on the Atamis portal, with a questionnaire for interested potential bidders to complete, aimed at obtaining the views of prospective healthcare providers. This process will enable the ICB to better understand the potential deliverability of a service of this nature as part of an ongoing options appraisal and assessment.
This process is being managed by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.

The envisaged contract period will be 2 years, The new contract is anticipated to start in October 2024.
The total value of the contract is estimated to be £3,600,000.00 (£1,800,000 per annum).
It is the ICBs intention to shape their procurement process based on the responses to this PIN. The Partnership would therefore request potential bidders to complete and submit a response to the questionnaire. The ICB is open to hearing from providers who genuinely believe they would be in a position to provide this service and offer best value to the ICB. If this is the case, please complete the market engagement questionnaire and submit it via the Atamis portal by 12 noon on the 18 June 2024.
