There are 274 LAN rooms across the campus where these works are to be carried out. LAN rooms vary in size and complexity and are located throughout the campus across various locations in Cardiff.

The works are anticipated to be spread across a period of around 36 to 48 months and the consultant will be expected to attend all design, site, Client and co-ordination meetings throughout the entire duration of the works.

The upgrade will include assessing the requirement and subsequent design for provision of additional power supplies to new and existing IT racks to supply new and existing active equipment via the new UPS systems and provision of cooling due to the associated additional power loads and heat gains.

There will be essential works to be carried out to ensure the necessary level of provision is available and additional provision made as and where necessary.
