1.1 The purpose of this framework is to offer support to those people living in Sheffield who have a mental health problem that is having a significant effect on their health and wellbeing. Mental health needs are increasing, not only due to the recent pandemic; other economic and environmental factors are taking their toll. Many people are living with anxiety and depression; however, it is estimated only 25% of these people will come forward for help and support. The aim of this framework is to address some of these issues before they can develop, offering support at the right time and enabling a return to independence as quickly as is possible. For others it may be ongoing support at a level that allows as much autonomy as the individual can manage.
