two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The fully steerable 25 m antenna situated at the Chilbolton Observatory in Hampshire is used both as a radar for meteorological measurement and satellite tracking. Although the system has served well, some new demands on its performance cannot be met with the existing hardware and software. Also, many of the drive system components are near end-of-life, hence the need for an upgrade. The purpose of this procurement is to provide a detailed specification for the upgrade to the antenna drive system. The requirement is varied in its nature with several details of hardware, protection systems, lubrication, interfaces, and software.
