The NHS Health Check programme aims to reduce avoidable premature mortality by early identification and management of cardiovascular risk factors and disease in people aged between 40 and 74 years who have no previous history of CVD disease. In Northamptonshire, 75 in every 100,000 people die prematurely before the age of 75 from cardiovascular disease. Under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, local authorities have a legal responsibility to commission and monitor their local health check programme. All local authorities must offer an NHS Health Check to 100% of their eligible population every 5 years by inviting 20% of the eligible population each year over the five year period. In Northamptonshire 228,466 people are eligible for an NHS Health Check meaning that 45,694 people should be offered a check each year. Public Health England expect that 66% of health checks offered should be taken up equating to 27,417 checks delivered each year.

This DPS Agreement is for an initial term of three years, with an option to extend for a further two years. The DPS Rounds will be closed for evaluation at the Council's discretion from Round 3 onwards; however, Providers will be able to apply for the DPS at any time within a Round.

Please note, the current round is Round 11 and we are using a 1 year extension. This DPS Agreement is for an initial period of 3 years (up to 31st March 2022) with an option to extend for a further period of up to 2 years, taking the total contract term to a maximum of 5 years and has currently been extended to Sunday 31st March 2024. Any extension will be agreed between the Council and the Provider(s).The deadline for completed applications within "Round 11" to be received on the In-tend eTendering Portal is 12:00noon on Thursday 13th July 2023. Please see In-tend for details of future Round deadlines.
