two.1.4) Short description

Essex County Council (ECC) is required to provide the opportunity for hands-on practical experience to enable Student Social Workers to consolidate their academic learning in ‘live’ Social Work practice experience, within Adult and Children’s Services. This will provide the opportunity to work with individuals who are vulnerable and in need of support, assistance and directing to appropriate community based services. The placements may be in Frontline Social Work Teams or Secondary Services provided by the Local Authority.

The aim of this PEPS provision is to provide experienced Social Work Practitioners with the skills and knowledge required to coach, mentor, supervise and assess Social Work Students, Newly Qualified Social Workers in their learning environments. This will enable qualified Practice Educators to mentor Social Workers engaged in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities. It should provide pathways to support Practice Educators to achieve level 2 Practice Education Professional Standards (PEPS).

The purpose of this procurement is to provide the required PEPS programme pathways through the provision of a framework based on the following Lots:

Lot 1 – PEPS Level 1&2 – combined course value of 60 academic Credit Post Graduate (Level 7) – Adult Social Care

Within Lot 1, there is a requirement for the HEI to provide two additional pathways

Towards attendees seeking to attaining the full professional award:

• PEPS Level 1 - course value of 15 academic Post Graduate Credits

to enable attendees to facilitate adult learners in a 70 day/Initial Placement learning environment or a Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) in first year of practice.

• PEPS Level 2 – course value of 45 academic Post Graduate Credits

to enable attendees to facilitate adult learners in a 100 day/Final Placement learning environment or a NQSW in first or continued year of practice.

• Refresher course – for PEPS award holders who are no longer compliant with the PEPS Framework currency requirements.
