Description
Coproduction and Lived Experience is a key priority for Adult Social Care in Essex. The purpose of this work is to ensure that the voices of people who access social care are core to the decisions and support that impact upon their lives.
ASC has some infrastructure in place to support coproduction and lived experience, but it requires improvement to maximise insights and influence change. The existing model enables coproduction to take place, holding quarterly in person forums and bringing a diverse range of people and groups together. It also has in place local representation groups for people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism.
The Council wishes to build on the success of the current approach, enhancing engagement opportunities, diversifying participation, and deepening the influence across all stages of service planning, delivery, and evaluation. This will be achieved through expanding the infrastructure in place to ensure a broad range of people can participate in a meaningful way in service, decisions and policies that impact upon their lives.
The current model focuses on individuals who use or experience adult social care services. However, the new model should be considered to expand and include those accessing both adult social care and health services across Essex, whilst ensuring a more integrated and comprehensive approach.
The purpose of the new coproduction model is to create an inclusive, sustainable infrastructure where people who use Adult Social Care services are recognised as experts in shaping and influencing the decisions that affect their support and wellbeing.
