HealthTrust Europe (HTE) is seeking to establish a contract for the provision of Clinical Waste Services including the collection, transportation and disposal of clinical waste, including but not limited to: healthcare waste, infectious waste, pathological waste, pharmaceutical waste, offensive/hygiene waste, hazardous and non-hazardous healthcare waste for NHS Trusts within the Cheshire and Merseyside region, namely:

Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

East Cheshire NHS Trust

Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Liverpool Heart and Chest NHS Foundation Trust

Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

Clinical Waste will be described within the following categories: Hazardous Waste, Pharmaceutical Waste and Sharps Waste.

Clinical Waste is defined as: “…any waste which consists wholly or partly of human or animal tissue, blood or other body fluids, excretions, drugs or other pharmaceutical products, swabs or dressings, syringes, needles or other sharp instruments, being waste which unless rendered safe, may prove hazardous to any person coming into contact with it; and any other waste arising from medical, nursing, dental, veterinary, pharmaceutical or similar practice, investigation, treatment, care, teaching or research, or the collection of blood for transfusion, being waste which may cause infection to any person coming into contact with it.”

This notice is for prior information only, publication for a further call for competition will be made as required. To assist in the strategic direction of the procurement and overall solution, HealthTrust Europe (HTE) and the Cluster is seeking supplier engagement. Please send your expression of interest along with no more than 2 representatives names to attend the event to armand.wembakungu@htepg.com. The deadline for expressions of interest for the supplier engagement will be 15th July 2021. The supplier engagement will take the form of one supplier and customer joint meeting via Teams , 10.30am-12.30pm on Monday 19th July. Engagement will be carried out in accordance with Regulation 40 & 41 of the Public Contract Regulations 2015.
