Description

The Mount Batten Pontoon Replacement project involves the design and construction of a new facility located at the Mount Batten Watersports & Activities Centre on behalf of Plymouth City Council (PCC). Funding for the replacement pontoon has been secured and will be provided by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The existing pontoon has reached the end of its operational life and requires replacement. The core elements of the design and build contract will include, but are not limited to:

- Bridgehead repairs with the addition of environmental enhancements like artificial reef tiles

- Removal and disposal of the existing pontoon structure

- Supply and installation of a new pontoon system

- Piling work as required

- Linkspan installation

- Potential reuse of existing elements, such as piles and linkspan, where feasible

The project is proposed to be governed by the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) - Option A.

Engagement process description

Plymouth City Council (PCC) are working on a project for the design and construction of a new pontoon facility located at the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre, Plymouth.

The purpose of this exercise is to introduce the project to the market; request market feedback to help develop project requirements and approach to the procurement; identify suppliers in the market; and gauge the level of market interest.

If your organisation is interested in participating in this exercise, then please register your interest to access the above documentation via https://www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk - Project Reference DN771451. Please complete the questionnaire within the 'Request for Information' document and return it electronically via the Portal by 12 noon 2nd May 2025.

Participation in this exercise is not a mandatory requirement for participation in any forthcoming procurement although the route to market (e.g. advertised or invitation only) is still yet to be determined, and the level of market interest received via this exercise may help inform this.

This exercise and any associated documentation, including any subsequent pre-market engagement, does not form any part of the tender process or evaluation and as such, this implies no commercial commitment by PCC. It is purely investigatory in nature, although it may be used to assist PCC in deciding how to shape any resulting procurement.

PCC reserves the right to clarify or seek further information from some or all suppliers that respond to this engagement exercise.
