Explanation:
A contract was executed in May 2020 to provide the Contracting Tracing solution and initial support for the population of Wales. Since then in response to government policy and additional clinical understanding of the COVID pandemic and the emergent need/requirement to manage the pandemic effectively additional packages of work are required which were outside the scope of the original contract. This short term contract is completed on the basis of ensuring a level of continuity with the current Test Trace Protect ("TTP") system while a competitive procurement is undertaken.

In order to continue developing the fully integrated Contact Tracing system in line Welsh Government policy and management of the pandemic, DHCW is required to procure Microsoft development resources to deliver ongoing system developments and functionality whilst the Programme is scoping out a longer term competitive procurement which will manage the emergent needs of the Welsh Government and Public Health Wales to manage the COVID Pandemic. It is anticipated that the term of any subsequent contract will be a maximum of three (3) years.
