The designated laboratory will carry out the provision of Services for the National Reference Laboratory for Genetically Modified Organisms in Food and Feed for NI and will play a vital role in protecting consumers against the use of any unauthorised GMO ingredients in food and feed. The NRL will provide specialist advice as requested by the FSA and technical support to the NI enforcement process for food, feed and products thereof. The NRL will also provide support to the official control laboratories for NI for GMO control and will be required to identify and participate at international GMO meetings and networks to build expertise and knowledge in the area.
