two.1.4) Short description

East Ayrshire Council are issuing this PIN as a market testing and information gathering exercise.

The Councils Finance & ICT service delivers a range of ICT services across East Ayrshire under the strategic leadership of the Chief Executive. These services are hosted across 3 main data centres, one being located within the Council Headquarters at London Road in Kilmarnock.

The data centre was opened in 2010 as a state of the art facility and continues to be a critical component in delivering ICT services across East Ayrshire. A key system within the data centre is the UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply). The current system is nearing end of life support and needs to be replaced.

East Ayrshire Council (EAC) are looking to use this PIN exercise to engage with potential UPS suppliers, find out what options are available on the market and begin dialogue to scope out any future tender opportunity. We would welcome discussions with providers who have relevant knowledge and experience within the market who would be willing to share information on what products are available.

The current UPS is a Chloride MP Net 80KVA UPS SGL NOBA of which there are two of these. EAC are looking for a replacement system of at least an equal specification to this.

The batteries in this system were recently replaced with 80 (2x40) C&D Technologies UPS12-220MRX VRLA Blocs.

In order to reduce our carbon footprint our preference would be for any replacement UPS system to be fully compatible with these batteries.
