Lichfield District Council (LDC) is currently considering options for the provision of Transport Assistance and is seeking to engage with the market for future service planning. It is anticipated that the “Lichfield On-Demand Bus Service” project will utilise UK Shared Prosperity Funding to provide a pilot scheme to connect residents in rural towns and villages across the locality with urban centres in Burntwood and Lichfield through an on demand bus service.

Marketing of the service will be supported by Lichfield District Council alongside the delivery partner.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

In order to ensure the Lichfield District Council specification requirements includes current market innovation and ideas, we would welcome an opportunity to meet with Suppliers to explore commercial progress in this area.

LDC are particularly interested in understanding the following areas:

• Smart phone applications and internet for the majority of bookings

• Alternative booking options for less digital literate service users (potentially via phone)

• Branded minibuses working across the district serving rural settlements including Whittington, Elford, Edingale, Comberford, Longdon Green, Hamstall Ridware and others

• Potential staffing of bus routes to include trips to work in the morning, return to work in early evening and to serve the night time economy where possible

• Approximate start up and ongoing costs

- Booking management platform with journey algorithms to optimise routes and costs

- Innovations in the field of on-demand transport

The objective is to explore market innovation into future Lichfield District Council planning. Outcome information may be used to inform a future specification for the LDC. The Council reserve the right to request presentations and hold supplier meetings for the purpose of soft market testing.
