two.1.4) Short description

UK ROC provides an essential service to Commissioners, Services and Patients, as follows:
• Commissioners: regular validated reports giving Commissioners valuable insights into their services activity against budget, complexity levels of patients, bed day costs (useful as PLICS data is currently unreliable), a rich dataset of patient demographics, patient inputs and outcomes (based on validated clinical tools), national and regional service provision as well as shortfall in provision, regular reporting against British Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (BSPRM) and NHSE national specification core standards, bespoke reports and answering Commissioner queries re their services and much more
• Services: use and training of invaluable day to day operational clinical tools to enable service planning, enhanced patient care and efficient use of scarce resources
• Patients: the rich and extensive UK ROC national dataset has allowed for multiple national and international research and peer reviewed papers, with cross border collaboration, resulting in significant advances in patient outcomes and care for this very vulnerable and often over-looked patient group

Database operation and maintenance:
• Routine operational and maintenance activities re the database, including software changes etc as new tools are added or updated and providing yearly updates of the software to all registered providers

• Development and updating of training materials made freely available on line to ensure accurate use of the tools by clinical, nursing and therapy teams
Data collation, checking and reporting:
• Receiving and checking data – with feedback to providers on accuracy / completeness / compliance / areas of improvement, etc
• Running and checking the monthly activity data and reporting to providers / commissioners
• Providing quarterly reports for benchmarking with feedback to commissioners as per the current format
• Producing triennial UK ROC reports for Commissioners giving an overview of progress against objectives, data analysis, published research, international collaborations, etc
• Supply Service costing data using the costing methodology developed with NHSE to provide updated costs for development of the Weighted Bed Day (WBD) tariffs for Level 1 and 2 specialist Services and development of Approved Costing Guidance for specialist rehabilitation services for use by costing practitioners during the annual PLICS submission cycle
• Update Service staff profiles based on annual returns from registered services
• Provide Service sign-posting for mandatory NHSE designation of service levels. (NB Signposting is not the same as service designation. Signposting provides a multi-faceted, transparent basis for designation as well as analysis against the NHSE service specification)
