The CYP Transformation Programme is now looking to test and scale a medical technical (MedTech) solution within our CEW clinics to support more children and young people living with complications from severe obesity.
Potential solutions could include an instrument, apparatus, appliance, software, digital solution (or combinations of these) etc. The solution will already have an existing evidence base for treating CYP (in England, the UK or internationally) with complications from severe obesity including published data demonstrating efficacy in a real world setting and improved patient outcomes (i.e. weight loss, reversal of complications).

The National CYP Transformation Programme is looking to procure a medical technology solution to help treat children and young people living with complications from Obesity.
The solution will likely be a combination of technology and virtual support through a digital application that supports behavioural change. An example of relevant medical technology could be (but is not limited to) specialist scales with an associated app for tracking weight loss.
The solution will be tested within the Complications from Excess Weight clinics.
The Medical Technology must include the following:
• Must help children and young people living with complications from severe obesity. Four key outcomes are considered: improvement in complications, weight loss, improvement in mental health measures and whether patients are achieving their goals.
• Have a robust evidence base demonstrating efficacy and improved outcomes for children and young people with severe obesity. Evidence may include publications in peer reviewed journals, undertaking randomised control trials, have undergone other formal evidence reviews / generation. Furthermore, the technology should have been approved for safety – for example by having CE registration.
• Provide tailored training for all CEW clinics. This should include tailored training for a range of multidisciplinary team members including, clinicians, nurses, dieticians, psychologists, social workers, youth workers and administrators.
