The service shall primarily be aimed at individuals for whom the contracting authority is responsible for meeting their care and support needs and who have been assessed as requiring accommodation in a residential care home setting in order to ensure their needs are met. Within the new contract there is an opportunity to address the identified gap for reablement provision with a care setting for individuals who have reablement potential and need short term residential care beds to fulfil that potential. This form of provision aims to complement the community-based service which has seen residents regain their independence and therefore either need comparatively smaller care packages, and, sometimes no need for care services, following the reablement intervention.
