Description
The Jisc primary nameserver service (PNS) is one of several DNS services operated by Jisc for the benefit of our members. PNS provides a facility to manage, host and serve authoritative DNS zones. DNS zones and records can be accessed and changed through a secure self-service web portal. Changes to the zones are immediately pushed to a set of resilient secondary nameservers to provide high availability and give added peace of mind. The nameservers are all situated on the Janet Network backbone and are geographically separated as a precaution against risks such as fire or network connection failure. What are we looking for? Jisc is refreshing this DNS infrastructure and intends to procure a) a self-service web portal and [where appropriate] b) a DNS nameserver solution. We are considering a mix of AWS and on-premise environments for deployment. Jisc is interested to hear from suppliers who can supplement their product offering with professional services for the design, deployment and support throughout the transition to the chosen solution.
