Kent County Council (the Council) is the largest local authority in England covering an area of 3,500 square kilometers. It has an annual expenditure of over £1bn on goods and services and a population of 1.6m. The Council provides a wide range of personal and strategic services on behalf of its residents, operating in partnership with the NHS Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group, 12 district councils, and 289 parish/town councils. KCC consists of four directorates:
-Adult Social Care and Health;
-Children, Young People and Education;
-Growth, Environment and Transport; and
-Strategic and Corporate Services.
This service is being commissioned on behalf of the Growth, Environment and Transport directorate.
The Council requires contractors to facilitate its Arboricultural maintenance contract. A market engagement exercise is being undertaken to inform the scope of works, contract duration, and lotting strategy.

A market engagement exercise will be held to inform the scope of works, however it is expected that the scope will likely include the following:
Arboricultural maintenance:
-Managing obstructions to the highway from low branches
-Pruning back trees from private property/structures & street furniture
-Removal of dead/diseased and dying trees
-Ash dieback remedial works
-Removal of deadwood/ivy/climbing plants/foreign objects
-Undertaking and repeating crown reduction/annual programmed pollarding works
-Annual basal and epicormic programmed works.
-Tree planting and young tree establishment maintenance – weeding, watering, and mulch
-Ad-hoc works relating to the highway soft estate management, tree safety audits and response to customer enquiries.
